An all-star roster of presenters from both the music world and Hollywood will be handing out trophies on the 30th annual “American Music Awards” special, airing on ABC-TV, January 13.
The initial list of presenters for this year’s show includes 3 Doors Down, Paula Abdul, Pat Boone, *N SYNC’s JC Chasez, Kellie Coffey, Common, Creed, Sheryl Crow, Jakob Dylan, Carmen Electra, Josh Groban, Daryl Hall & John Oates, “Everybody Loves Raymond”’s Patricia Heaton, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Lonestar, George Lopez, Martina McBride, Jo Dee Messina, Mya, Nelly, “ER”’s Mekhi Phifer, Shaggy, Justin Timberlake, Tyrese and Lee Ann Womack.
Performers announced for the special thus far are Christina Aguilera, Kenny Chesney, Elton John dueting with Tim McGraw, matchbox twenty, a duet by Toby Keith and Willie Nelson, Shania Twain and Kelly Osbourne, who, along with the rest of The Osbournes, will also host the show.
Additional performers and presenters will be added to the line-up and announced at a later date.
A total of 20 publicly voted awards will be presented on this year’s “American Music Awards.” In the Pop/Rock, Hip-Hop/R&B categories, awards will be presented for Favorite Male and Female Artist, Favorite Group, Favorite Album and Favorite New Artist. In the Latin Music, Contemporary Inspirational, Adult Contemporary and Alternative Music categories, awards will be presented for Favorite Artist. An award will also be presented for Favorite Soundtrack.
The special is a presentation of dick clark productions, inc., with Clark serving as Executive Producer. Al Schwartz and Larry Klein produce. Bruce Gowers directs.
