Headlining the list with multiple nominations and setting a precedent in her inaugural year of eligibility is native Albertan Carolyn Dawn Johnson who is up for a total of ten CCMA Awards.Other artists with multiple nominations in various categories include Terri Clark with six nominations; Ontario¹s Jason McCoy received five nominations; 16 year-old Adam Gregory of Edmonton earned four nominations with his major label debut; and indie artist Lisa Brokop collected a total of five nominations, including Album of the Year for her current project Undeniable, Female Artist, and Independent Female Artist. Mirroring this accomplishment is Jamie Warren with three nominations including both Male Artist and Male Independent Artist of the Year, along with Independent Song of the Year. The CCMA Awards Show also includes two fan-voted awards. The TELUS Mobility Fans¹ Choice Award allows fans to call in to vote from this year¹s list of nominees: Paul Brandt, Terri Clark, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Jason McCoy, and The Wilkinsons. Beginning August 1 and ending September 9, Canadian Country Music fans may participate in the voting process by calling 900-870-CCMA or via their TELUS Mobility Web ready wireless phone to support the artist nominee of their choice. Internet voting will also be available, beginning August 1, at www.ccma.org /or/ www.TELUScountry.com. Year 2001 marks the addition of a new category to the program, the Roots Artist or Group of the Year Award. The nominees in this category are a mix of well-known artists such as Scotty Campbell and The Mike Plume Band. The awards presentation is the high point of the country music year at the close of Canadian Country Music Week each September. The Year 2001 Awards show will be held Monday, September 10, 2001 at Calgary¹s Pengrowth Saddledome. The Awards show will feature appearances by Canadian icons Anne Murray and Gordon Lightfoot and showcase artists and performers from prior years as well as some special surprises. This year¹s show will be broadcast live on CBC and CMT in the United States with a later re-broadcast by CMT--Canada. Canadian Country Music Week-2001 begins September 7, 2001.
