NASHVILLE - "The 37th Annual CMA Awards" airs live Wednesday Nov. 5 (8:00-11:00 PM/EST) on the CBS Television Network from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville Tenn. Each week leading up to the CMA Awards, CMA will spotlight one of the Award categories with trivia about the nominees. One of the highlights of the CMA Awards each year is the presentation of the Vocal Group of the Year Award. 2003 Vocal Group of the Year Nominees Alabama A) Diamond Rio Answer: A) Diamond Rio. Diamond Rio added their rendition of the Eagles' "Lyin' Eyes" to the CMA Award-winning album that also featured cuts by 2003 CMA nominees Brooks & Dunn and Alan Jackson, as well as CMA Awards host Vince Gill. A) Rascal Flatts Answer: A) Rascal Flatts, who received their third CMA Award nomination this year, won the Horizon Award in 2002. The Dixie Chicks won the Horizon Award in 1998. A) Alabama Answer: D) All of the above. Alabama was honored as Vocal Group of the Year in 1981-83; Diamond Rio received the Award in 1992-94; and the Dixie Chicks won in 1998-2000. Diamond Rio and the Dixie Chicks both have four wins in the category, as well (in 1997 and 2002, respectively). A) Dixie Chicks Answer: B) Alabama. Among a long list of accolades that includes 38 career CMA Awards nominations, the men of Alabama (Jeff Cook, Teddy Gentry, Mark Herndon and Randy Owen) saw their group's star cemented at 7060 Hollywood Boulevard in 1999. A) Alabama Answer: D) Dixie Chicks. The Dixie Chicks were nominated for Entertainer of the Year in 1999, with only their debut Wide Open Spaces to their credit. While Shania Twain received the evening's top Award, the Dixie Chicks took home Awards for Vocal Group, Single and Music Video of the Year. A) Dixie Chicks Answer: C) Lonestar. In a 2002 online poll of AOL users, Lonestar's "Amazed" was indeed deemed the "No. 1 Love Song of All-Time."
