October 19, 2006 - Nashville, TN - Tennessee native Willie Allen will make his debut in the NASCAR Busch Series at the Sam’s Town 250 in Memphis. Allen will pilot the #14 Dodge of FitzBradshaw Racing for the October 28th event to be held at the Memphis Motorsports Park. While this will be Allen’s first Busch race, it will not be his first experience in one of NASCAR’s “big three” divisions. Allen finished an impressive sixth in his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at Martinsville last October. “I feel like I will be able to take some of the short track experience I gained at Martinsville and apply it in Memphis,” said Allen. “This is a great opportunity for me and I want to thank everyone at FitzBradshaw Racing. I am very excited and grateful to them for choosing to put me in the seat. They are a top notch team and I am confident that we will do well in Memphis.”
Platinum selling country artist Josh Turner will provide the sponsorship of Allen’s #14 Dodge. Turner’s sophomore album Your Man has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and has produced two multi-week #1 singles. Also sponsoring Allen will be the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau (NCVB). Both Turner and the NCVB have been tremendous supporters of Allen’s racing career. “I can’t thank Josh and the City of Nashville enough. They both have been very helpful to me in the past and I am proud to have them as my sponsors once again.”
Allen continues to prove that he is one of racings hottest prospects. This year Allen was named the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Points Champion at the Music City Motorplex in Nashville and finished 8th nationally in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Division IV rankings. In addition, Allen has been named a “Star of Tomorrow” by NASCAR Scene Magazine and labeled a Top 10 Prospect by NASCAR.com. Allen has a career total of 69 wins, 118 top 5’s and 156 Top 10’s.
