Toronto, ON (October 19, 2006) – The 2005 Canadian Country Music Awards production has won a Gemini Award at one of several gala ceremonies honouring Canadian television.
The 2005 Canadian Country Music Awards show, which used a unique staging concept for Calgary’s Pengrowth Saddledome, won in the category of “Best Production Design or Art Direction in a Non-Dramatic Program or Series”. Accepting the Gemini Award was Production Designer Andrew Kinsella, attending with the show’s producers “Big Green Hat”. The 2005 CCMA Awards show was televised on CBC and CMT in Canada, along with GAC in the U.S. and CMC in Australia.
Canada’s Gemini Awards recognize outstanding achievement in the television industry and celebrate excellence in 87 award categories, over three gala presentations. Since 1986, the event has grown to become one of the most prestigious cultural events in Canada, and this year marks the 21st anniversary for the awards.
This is the second Gemini Award for the CCMA Awards show. The 2007 show will be held in Regina, Saskatchewan as a part of Canada’s Country Music Week event, from September 7 to 10.
