George Canyon
Somebody Wrote Love [Universal Music Canada] 2006
Review by Cheryl Breo
George Canyon, the 2004 Nashville Star runner up, is certainly a winner with his current CD, "Somebody Wrote Love". Listening to his rich, mature voice singing the emotional love ballads, "I Want You To Live (Michael Dulaney; Robin Welty)" and "Coming From You (Derek George; John Tirro; Randy Houser)" makes you feel s through he may be singing from his own life.
""Madi's Song (The Man She Thinks I am) (George Canyon; Pat Alger)" is certainly from Canyon's real life, written by him about his little girl, who he admits has him wound around her little finger. It definitely is a father's tribute of love for his child.
One of the best tracks is "The Hard Times (Dennis Matkosky; George Canyon)", a song where Canyon tells us to embrace the tough times and rocky roads in our lives and to always thank God for them, to thank God for the lessons we learn from them about ourselves and about our faith.
Overall, "Somebody Wrote Love" is a solid country album, filled with solid country love songs, mixed with some upbeat, solid country mischief. If you're a fan of Alan Jackson and his music, then this album is one that will be a much listened to add to your collection.
