Buzz has been circulating for weeks that Willie Nelson was about to announce formation of his Pedernales Record label. MusicRow magazine broke the news this afternoon (03/13/07). "Willie Nelson, producer James Stroud and longtime Nelson manager Mark Rothbaum have partnered in the formation of Austin-based Pedernales Records. The official announcement is set for a press conference on Friday, March 16 at Austinï؟½s Four Seasons Hotel, during the annual SXSW Conference. Performing will be the labelï؟½s first act 40 Points, made up of Willieï؟½s sons Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson. The groupï؟½s debut, marked by a blend of rock, reggae, blues and funk, is produced by Stroud (Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Hank Williams Jr.) and will be released this summer. 40 Points performed with Willie and Bob Dylan during the summer 2005 Nelson/Dylan tour. Nelson will record for the label following his run with Lost Highway Records. His latest release, out March 20, is the two-disc album with Merle Haggard and Ray Price called Last of the Breed. The three will tour together from March 9 to March 25, backed by Asleep at the Wheel."

Alan Jacksonï؟½s
wife of 27 years, Denise Jackson, is the special guest in his latest video, ï؟½A Womanï؟½s Loveï؟½. The video, which was filmed last month in Jacksonï؟½s garage in Nashville, with additional filming in Los Angeles, features charming animation throughout, in addition to Jacksonï؟½s live action performance. ï؟½A Womanï؟½s Loveï؟½ is from the critically acclaimed LIKE RED ON A ROSE album, produced by Alison Krauss.

Reba McEntire is reprising her role as Nellie Forbush in South Pacific. Former co-star Brian Stokes Mitchell, who portrays Emile de Bacque, will also recreate his role. The pair join together again in the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical for three performances at the Hollywood Bowl, August 3rd - 5th.

Blake Shelton has announced the 2nd annual Raindance charity event to be held in his hometown of Ada, OK April 22-24.  The three-day event will include an archery tournament, team roping and a concert with Shelton and friends including Steve Holy, Neal McCoy and Craig Morgan.  Already on-board to participate in the sporting events are Lee and Tiffany Lakosky of ï؟½Gettinï؟½ Closeï؟½ from the Outdoor Channel and Matt Morrett Pro staff at Realtree and Hunterï؟½s Specialties. Last year the event raised over $133,000 for the victims of Oklahomaï؟½s debilitating drought and subsequent wildfires of 2005ï؟½2006.  Many family farms were completely destroyed, with livestock and equipment lost and no way or means to build back. Shelton decided to host Raindance after witnessing first hand the devastation. Raindance has partnered with the Oklahoma Lumbermenï؟½s Association and their relief program, Project Rebuild, to distribute aid throughout the 28 counties of Oklahoma. 

The International Fan Club Organization's 40th Annual Fun Fest on Monday, June 4 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium will be hosted by

Trace Adkins will receive the 2007 USO Merit Award. Adkins will be honored at the 25th Annual USO-Metro Awards Dinner to be held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Arlington, VA on March 27. Adkins is dedicated to assisting others through his charitable works. He has traveled into combat zones as part of a USO tour to entertain service members stationed at "Operation Enduring Freedom" Forward Operating Bases where he performed free concerts, signed autographs and mingled with the troops. In 2005, he paid tribute to our American heroes with the poignant ballad, "Arlington" featured on his double-platinum CD, SONGS ABOUT ME. Past recipients of the USO Merit Award include Steven Spielberg, Elizabeth Taylor, Willie Nelson and Bob Hope.

Grammyï؟½ winner and Gospel Music Hall of Fame member Dottie Rambo will be in Ringgold, GA on April 14 to perform for The Share America Foundation, Inc. that oversees the Pearl & Floyd Franks Scholarship Fund. Randall Franks ("Officer Randy Goode" from TV's In the Heat of the Night) will emcee. The Foundation presents scholarships to talented musicians who excel in the Appalachian musical arts. Tim McGrawï؟½s new single ï؟½Last Dollarï؟½ from his LET IT GO album, due in stores March 27, flies to the top of the Canadian Country singles chart reports Radio and Records.  Now in its second week atop the charts, ï؟½Last Dollarï؟½ is his 19th #1 single in Canada, setting a record for the most #1 singles since the inception of the monitoring of stations by BDS in Canada in 1995.  The single bolts to #2 in the US singles chart (he currently has a total of 26 #1 singles in America).  McGraw is set to take his ï؟½Jeep Presents Soul 2 Soul Tour 2007ï؟½ with Faith Hill on a major Canadian run later this year.

The Academy of Country Music has announced that more than 36 all-star country artists will participate in their 4th Annual Motorcycle Ride benefiting the Academy of Country Musicï؟½ Charitable Fund on May 13 in Las Vegas, NV. For the fourth time in the Rideï؟½s history, Montgomery Gentry will host the event. Artists participating in this year's Ride include Keith Anderson, Dierks Bentley, Big Kenny of Big & Rich, Carolina Rain, Emerson Drive, Cory Gierman, Josh Gracin, Heartland, Steve Holy, Buddy Jewel, Little Texas, Montgomery Gentry, Craig Morgan, Heidi Newfield, John Nicholson, James Otto, The Road Hammers, Ray Scott, Trent Tomlinson, Trick Pony, Two Foot Fred, The Warren Brothers and Trent Willmon. The Charity Motorcycle Ride will kick-off from one of the largest Harley-Davidson dealerships, Las Vegas Harley-Davidson. The riders will cruise through Nevadaï؟½s vast desert oasis and up along snowy mountain tops until they reach their final destination, the world famous Fremont Street. The sun will begin to set upon a concert extravaganza that will feature past and present ACM Award nominees and some of countryï؟½s best new artists.

As a precursor to CMA Music Festival, the "Criscoï؟½ Presents The Road To CMA Music Festival" will visit Wal-Mart stores in nine cities in April, bringing a taste of the legendary festival direct to the fans. Before the performance In each city, Country Music artists will perform in the store parking lot before meeting fans and signing autographs. Ev ents will feature family activities for kids of all ages, including free giveaways from CMA Music Festival, Criscoï؟½, Chevy, Greased Lightningï؟½, Southwest Airlines, and Gibson Guitar. Artists on the tour include Jeff Bates, Blue County, Eric Church, Emerson Drive, Buddy Jewell, Craig Morgan, Danielle Peck, Ray Scott and Chris Young.

Baccerstick Records artist Jason Meadows has joined the Wrangler Corporation's celebrity endorsement roster. Wrangler outfitted Meadows for his recent CD cover and publicity photo shoot, as well as the video shoot for his debut single, ï؟½100% Cowboy,ï؟½ the title cut from his first CD due in stores this summer. ï؟½Jason and the Wrangler clothing line are made for each other," notes Edyie Brooks-Bryant, Wrangler's marketing manager, country music, licensing, and public relations. ï؟½I've been wearing Wrangler jeans for as long as I can remember,ï؟½ says Meadows, "It's not just about style, great jeans are about function. CMT will honor Kris Kristofferson with the ï؟½Johnny Cash Visionary Award,ï؟½ to be presented at the 2007 CMT Music Awards, airing live on April 16. Chosen for his contributions to country music, straightforward songwriting, uncompromising approach to his art and unwillingness to fit a mold, Kristofferson joins an elite circle of gifted performers to have received this prestigious mark of distinction. Past recipients include Hank Williams, Jr. (2006), Loretta Lynn (2005), Reba McEntire (2004), Johnny Cash (2003) and the Dixie Chicks (2002). 

Felton Pruitt presents the debut of FATMusicRadio.com on St. Patrickï؟½s Day, March 17.  Playing music ranging from Bob Wills to Bob Weir, programming highlights for the day will include new Chewinï؟½ the FAT interviews with Guy Clark and Joe Ely as well as the Midnight Flyer blues show hosted by radio legend Norman Davis. There will also be a special tribute to broadcasting pioneer Thom Oï؟½Hair. They willl tape an episode of Emeril Live! for the Food Network, Naomiï؟½s New Morning for the Hallmark Channel, and Sound Off w/Matt Pinfield for HDNet (all taped show air dates to be announced.)

Lorianne Crook is hosting GAC's nine-part series, "Academy of Country Music and GAC Presents". The premiere episode (March 12) featured Little Big Town, the Academyï؟½s Top New Duo or Vocal Group nominee. Taylor Swift, nominated in the Top New Female Vocalist category, will be the subject of the second (March 19) episode, followed by Rodney Atkins, The Wreckers, Kellie Pickler, Chris Young, Miranda Lambert, Craig Morgan, and Heartland before the series ends on May 7.

Native Texan Todd Fritsch is keeping the home fires burning, breaking attendance records at his Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo BBQ Cook-Off debut with an audience of 93,642; the HLSR's after-hours mecca The Hideout, and at the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra's Salute To America's Cowboys event.  Fritsch is not only moving large audiences, but his latest single, "What's Wrong With Me," is climbing the charts: Texas Music #17, Music Row #36, and broke on to the R&R/Billboard monitored chart. The track is from his upcoming Diamond Music Group/Spinville CD, SAWDUST, due out April 17. Fritsch will perform at Nashville's CMA Music Festival and plans are underway for a fall tour of Europe.

CMA's "Keep the Music Playing" program funds music education in Metro Nashville in partnership with the Nashville Alliance for Public Education (NAPE).
"When we launched this charity initiative last year, we made a promise to donate $300,000 to music education on behalf of all the artists who participate in the Festival for free," said Tammy Genovese, CMA Chief Operating Officer. "But record attendance made it possible for us to increase the amount to $368,502. And the Alliance and Metro Nashville school system are already putting those funds to excellent use for the students." The 2007 CMA Music Festival will be held June 7-10, in Downtown Nashville.
