40th Annual IFCO Fun Fest Show.... - Jun 15, 2007

Rarely seen performances by Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, Roy Orbison, Joni Mitchell and more have been unearthed for "The Best of the Johnny Cash TV Show,” a two-disc DVD set due in stores Sept, 18. Cash's series ran on ABC Television from the summer of 1969 to March 1971, and provided an invaluable national showcase for an astonishing array of singer/songwriters of all genres. Among performers on the Sony release are Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Linda Ronstadt, Ray Charles, Glen Campbell, Derek and the Dominos, Pete Seeger, Louis Armstrong, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, James Taylor, Kris Kristofferson, Charley Pride, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. The package features a total of 66 performances.

Rhino Records will release Emmylou Harris Songbird – Rare Tracks & Forgotten Gems on Sept. 24. The 4 CD edition of the 12-time Grammy Award-winner in which she retraces the back roads of her remarkable musical journey that spans more than three decades. Rhino lets one of the most instantly recognizable voices of any genre call the tunes for this four-disc collection of career favorites, difficult-to-find material and live performances from her days with Gram Parsons and later, the Hot Band to her bluegrass material and her fascinating concept album to her more recent solo albums and her most recent work Mark Knopfler.

Charlie Daniels will release his 17th Blue Hat Records, collection Deuces on Oct. 9th. Daniels teamed up with some of Nashville's most recognizable names, performing duets of Country, Pop, R&B and some of CDB's biggest hits. Guests include: Brad Paisley, The Del McCoury Band, Gretchen Wilson, Earl, Gary and Randy Scruggs, Bonnie Bramlett, Travis Tritt, Dolly Parton, Brooks & Dunn, Marty Stuart. Darius  Rucker, Brenda Lee, Vince Gill and Montgomery Gentry. Daniels will be promoting the release making with a series of appearances in New York and touring the country starting Oct. 5.

NEWS BRIEFS: Porter Wagoner will receive the Pioneer Award during the iebaLIVE! Banquet on Oct. 16. +++ Billy Ray Cyrus will not be attending the Canadian Country Music Awards as previously announced due to a change in the filming schedule for Hannah Montana. +++ Bucky Covington and Jason Michael Carroll have set the Raisin' the Bar Tour starting Oct. 25 in Corpus Christi, TX and winding-up Dec. 8 in Baltimore. Cole Deggs & the Lonesome will open the shows.
Willie Nelson has joined the cast of Swing Vote, a Tourchstone pictures political comedy. The film is being produced by Kevin Costner's Treehouse production company and will also feature Dennis Hopper, Kelsey Grammer, George Lopez and Costner. No release date has been announced.

Songwriter, Billy Montana, has re-signed an exclusive long-term songwriter agree-ment with Curb Music Publishing and Moraine Music Group. Among Montana’s hits are Jo Dee Messina’s smash, "Bring on the Rain", Sara Evans’ #1 chart topper, "Suds in the Bucket", and the record-breaking Garth Brooks single, "More Than a Memory", which debuted at #1 on the charts last week. "More Than a Memory" was co-written with Lee Brice and Kyle Jacobs.

Kellie Pickler is one of several celebrity contestants scheduled to compete on Fox TV's Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? hosted by Jeff Foxworthy.
The all-star cast will also include American Idol's Clay Aiken, television host Regis Philbin, skateboarder Tony Hawk, Miss America Lauren Nelson and Billie Bush of Access Hollywood. Each celebrity will compete for a possible one million dollars with winnings going to the charity of their choice and is scheduled to air during November sweeps week.

NEWS BRIEFS: Reba McEntire will bring along recent duet partner, Kelly Clarkson and Justin Timberlake when she visits with Oprah, airing the week of Sept 18 - when Reba Duets is released. +++ The CMA Songwriters Series on Sept. 20 will be part of "Joe's Pub in the Park," a two week musical festival held at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The series will include performances from Bob DiPiero, Gretchen Peters, Rivers Rutherford and Victoria Shaw .+++ Montgomery Gentry will headline the 2008 Country in the Rockies in Steamboat Springs, CO. The annual event scheduled for Jan. 23-27, is a fundraiser for the T.J. Martell Foundation to support leukemia, cancer and AIDS research.

Clay Walker has enlisted some of country music's biggest stars to help battle against Multiple Sclerosis.  Walker's non-profit charity, Band Against MS has partnered with the Washington D.C. metropolitan area Chapter of the National MS Society by offering an autographed guitar for auction at the Society's Annual Ambassadors Ball on Sept. 19 in the nation's capital.  The Taylor model 210-E guitar bedecked with the authentic signatures of Walker, Alan Jackson, Kix Brooks, Ronnie Dunn and George Strait is one of several items included in the auction.  Proceeds from the sale of the instrument will be divided between the National Capital Chapter of the National MS Society and Band Against MS (www.bandagainstms.org).

Organizers of Darryl Worley’s Tennessee River Run presented by West Tennessee Healthcare predict record crowds for this year’s event on Sept. 14-15 at Pickwick Landing State Park Resort in Hardin County.  Charlie Daniels is among entertainers joining Worley at the centerpiece concert . The Tennessee River Run benefits the Darryl Worley Foundation, Inc. , organized as a 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation, to help serve the needs of Hardin and McNairy Counties and surrounding areas of West Tennessee, Northeastern Mississippi and Northwestern Alabama, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center, Ayers Children’s Medical Center and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation .
