In Memory of David Alexander Cook (1928 - 2008)
Just in case anyone was wondering why my website hadn't been updated for so long, it's been a very sad time around here. My step-father, David Alexander Cook, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer on April 25th. My mother met my step-Dad in 1957 and they were married on September 17th, 1966. There were some rough times in the early years but after Dad suffered a nearly fatal heart attack in 1979, life seemed to have more meaning and the couple lived out their remaining years together very quietly and happily. Dad and I also had a very rough start but also managed to turn things around to the postive many years ago. We had many things in common, mainly computers. Dad was the very first architect in Hamilton to use AutoCad for his drawings and was very highly regarded by his friends and peers. He was the one who gave me my first computer and started me on the road to where I am today. I think we managed to drive Mom crazy when I visited because we always seemed to gravitate to his office and computers! We also shared a love for the outdoors and fishing. My earliest memories were of the 3 of us going fishing along the Grand River. I also remember winters where we took out tobaggans and braved the hills around Orangevile. We also used to go to archery meets all over Ontario. Dad will be missed by all of us!
