Country Star Raises Money and Awareness for His Charity and Wins the Hearts of Millions
Nashville, TN - March 28, 2008...Trace Adkins may not have been crowned "The Celebrity Apprentice," on last night's season finale, but he still came out a big winner and accomplished exactly what he set out to do - raise money and awareness for The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN), a cause near and dear to his heart. In the process, the show introduced a humble, funny and genuinely good person to millions of Americans who may not listen to country music.
Adkins, who has long been a staple on the country charts, played the game with integrity and dignity throughout the entire season. And during the final showdown, he was clearly the overall favorite who had won the hearts of his fellow contestants.
Rocker Gene Simmons commented, "Trace Adkins has a quality that is sorely missing in America today, and that's called a tug of the heart. His voice, his persona, that quiet moment when the flag of the United States of America goes up, there should be a moment of silence for the flag that gave your life possibility, and Trace Adkins has that quality."
Actor Stephen Baldwin went on to say, "There is no question in my mind that Trace is ten times better than Piers anyday."
Three-time heavy weight boxing champ Lennox Lewis told Access Hollywood that Simmons said it best, "Trace is the fabric of America...and if you ask me who I would rather have won, it would have to be Trace."
Adkins also performed his latest number one single, "You're Gonna Miss This" live in front of 12.1 million viewers who tuned in to watch NBC's Celebrity Apprentice finale. The song was immediately made available for download on iTunes, with all proceeds going directly to FAAN. The charity single jumped to #1 on the iTunes Country Singles chart overnight and is presently #4 on the overall Top Songs Chart.
Adkins' latest CD, American Man Greatest Hits Volume II, jumped to #1 on the iTunes Country Albums chart and his entire catalog has seen increases in sales overnight with Greatest Hits Volume I, Songs About Me, Dangerous Man and More all charting.
Adkins has been overwhelmed with response from the public who want to support FAAN. Just this morning, country radio station WRBT-FM in Harrisburg, PA decided to suspend all regular programming to accept requests and dedications for $50 a piece. At press time, the station had already raised over $10,000 dollars for FAAN.
In response to losing to British journalist Piers Morgan, Adkins replies, "Mr. Trump obviously based the decision on the most money that was raised. Its his call and his show. I have no regrets, I wouldn't have done anything differently. I played the game the way I wanted to and I played it clean."
He says further that while he won't miss the intense boardroom situations, Adkins says he enjoyed the experience overall. "I'll miss the relationships and hanging-out with these people and just the camaraderie. We pulled together and worked hard to try to win money for charity."
While Trump may have made his decision based on dollar signs and not heartstrings, he was obviously a fan of Adkins saying,"he's a hell of a singer and one of the nicest guys to ever be in my boardroom...You're a really special guy, a special human being and I'll always love you."
