My Song is My Gift: A George Canyon Christmas

- Holiday special filmed in Banff features some of Canada’s finest artists -

Joined by members of the Canadian Forces at the magical Fairmont Banff Springs, Juno award winning country star George Canyon hosts a warm, intimate television special with friends Johnny Reid, Dave Gunning, Jully Black, Andrea Menard and Tyler Connelly from Theory of a Deadman. My Song Is My Gift:  A George Canyon Christmas will air nationally on CBC Television on Wednesday, December 19th at 9:00pm.

As well as performing holiday classics, the special also features songs written by the artists themselves.  Johnny Reid wrote ‘It Started with a Child’ for his three boys and to celebrate the innocence of children at Christmas time.  His new single, not yet released, ‘Thank You’, was written for his family for being so supportive of his career and time spent away from home.  David Gunning’s ‘Daddy’s Beer’ is a fun duet that George and Dave sing together.  His dad always wanted him to write a Christmas song and this fun interpretive tale was his gift to his dad.  Andrea Menard’s ‘Sparkle’ is a beautiful celebration of the joy of Christmas.  Tyler Connelly and George sing ‘Seven Spanish Angels’, a song made famous by the duet of Willie Nelson and Ray Charles and Jully Black’s gospel-like interpretation of holiday classics melts to the core.

"What a great opportunity to celebrate the Christmas spirit, in such a beautiful setting with such artists as these, it's a dream come true. So much diversity...," said Canyon.
