October 4th 2007 – Toronto, ON – Country star George Canyon is set to release his latest album, Classics, (Universal Music Canada ) this coming Tuesday. The album, which features his current release, “Ring of Fire,” as well as 12 other well-loved classics, will hit stores on October 9th, 2007.

Following hot on the heels of his three successful albums, One Good Friend (2004), Home For Christmas (2005) and Somebody Wrote Love (2006), Classics is an album that Canyon has always wanted to record. Listening to the original versions of the songs growing up helped to develop his love for country music and he stayed true to the classics in his production.

"It was a labour of love to record the songs that influenced me so many years ago. It was important for me to keep the arrangements true to the original in the hope that when people listen to this it recreates the magic I experienced when hearing these songs on the radio the first time round,” he says.

When Canyon appeared on the first season of USA Network/CMT Canada’s Nashville Star television show, he was thrilled to be able to sing timeless songs like “Ring Of Fire,” “Seven Spanish Angels,” and “Kiss An Angel Good Morning” to delighted TV audiences in both Canada and the US. Those performances garnered enormous response from fans on his website, www.georgecanyon.com. The appreciation from audiences continues with requests for these songs at Canyon’s live performances.

The track listing for Classics include popular favourites from George's live show and his Nashville Star appearances, including: "Ring of Fire," "Seven Spanish Angels," "Good Ole Boys (Dukes of Hazzard theme)," Luckenbach, Texas (Back to The Basics of Love)," "Good Hearted Woman," "He Stopped Loving Her Today," "My Best Friend," "Kiss An Angel Good Morning," "Okie from Muskogee," "Hello Darlin'," "Release Me," "Folsom Prison Blues," and "The Battle of New Orleans."  Each one of these tracks has a personal meaning to Canyon.

“Ring of Fire,” the first single from the album, was released to radio in September and has already hit the national airplay chart.  The video for the song debuted on CMT Canada’s brand new show, CMT 30, hosted by Paul McGuire, at 7.30 (ET), Wednesday, October 3rd and will be added into Heavy rotation on CMT’s playlist as of Tuesday, October 9th.

This album is just a part of what Canyon is doing for his fans.  This fall brings Canyon’s In A Quiet Room Tour to venues across Canada .  The 49-date tour provides an intimate concert experience for his fans.

All appearances and tour dates are listed on www.georgecanyon.com so be sure to check often for updates!
