George Canyon Nominated for Five Canadian Country Music Awards

Yesterday in Toronto the Canadian Country Music Association announced the nominations for the Canadian Country Music Awards, which will be held in Regina, SK on September 10th. George Canyon was nominated in five major categories, including Cheez Whiz Fan’s Choice, Album of the Year (for Somebody Wrote Love [Universal Music Canada]), Single of the Year (for “I Want You to Live”), Male Artist of the Year and Video of the Year (for “I Want You to Live”).

 

Canyon’s team also received nods for Website of the Year (Wendy Gilmour for www.georgecanyon.com ), Video Director of the Year (Warren Sonoda for “I Want You to Live”), Record Producer of the Year (George Canyon and Scot Sherrod, for Somebody Wrote Love), All Star Band Keyboards (Mike Little) and All Star Band Fiddle (Shane Guse).

 

“It is always such an honour to be nominated at the CCMAs,” said Canyon, who is currently in the studio recording his new album. “I can’t believe this is happening again and I can’t thank the fans and our industry enough for all of their support. I am so proud of my amazing team whose work has been recognized.”

 

On September 19th Canyon kicks off his 43-date cross-Canada ‘In A Quiet Room’ Tour in Courtenay, BC. The tour travels across Canada before ending on November 20th in Canyon’s hometown of Pictou, NS.

 

Currently receiving airplay across Canada with his hit single, “I Want You to Live,” Canyon is a well-known voice in country music. His video for the song hit number one on the CMT Canada Chevy Top 20 in May and remained on top for two weeks in a row. He is a two-time Juno Award winner for Country Recording of the Year and a multiple Canadian Country Music Award winner, he is recording an album slated for release in the fall.


The 2007 CCMA Awards broadcast will air across Canada on September 10th at 8pm (9pm AST & 9:30pm NF) on CBC TV, with encore airings on CMT Canada, in the U.S. on television network Great American Country (GAC), and in Australia on Country Music Channel (CMC).
