February 20, 2007 – For the third year in a row Canadian country artist George Canyon has been voted Entertainer of the Year at the East Coast Music Awards, which took place on Sunday February 18th in Halifax, NS. The award, which is voted on by fans, is a special one for Canyon. “God is great,” he said in his acceptance speech, before thanking his fans for the honour. Canyon also brought home the awards for Country Recording of the Year for his album, Somebody Wrote Love, and Video of the Year for his “Drinkin’ Thinkin’” video.

Canyon, who was born and raised in Nova Scotia, also appeared on the nationally televised broadcast as part of the tribute performances for Denny Doherty and John Allan Cameron. He performed Doherty’s “California Dreamin’” as well as part of “Lord of the Dance,” which was Cameron’s signature song.
The ECMAs were hosted this year by The Trailer Park Boys and Canyon was joined onstage by Bubbles (Mike Smith) to accept the award for Video of the Year. Smith’s hilarious cameo was a highlight of the video, which was a mainstay on CMT Canada for many months.
Canyon, who is a nominee for Country Recording of the Year at this year’s Juno Awards, recently released a new single and video from Somebody Wrote Love (Universal Music Canada), “I Want You to Live.” The video, which features members of the Canadian Forces, is in heavy rotation at CMT Canada and the single has been added at radio stations across Canada.
