Country Star Phil Vassar Posts Weekend Acoustic Show Sell-Outs
(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) How can a performer whose live shows are ranked with the best of the best take things to another level? For country star Phil Vassar, the answer just might be found in the "less is more" principle.
One of the most acclaimed and accomplished live musicians in any genre, country's piano man has been called "a young Jerry Lee Lewis" (Pittsburgh Post Gazette) and his concerts have been hailed as "a hurricane of sound" (Orange County Register). So for a change of pace, Vassar booked a weekend of acoustic shows, leaving the band at home, but the results were no less explosive.
Vassar rang up consecutive sell-outs in Annapolis, MD; Harrisburg, PA; and Atlantic City, NJ this past weekend (Jan. 18 to Jan. 20), packing theater venues to capacity and blowing off some roofs. The SRO weekend comes as no surprise to Vassar's fans, nor to music critics.
No less than the Chicago Tribune has declared, "Phil Vassar has the talent of a legend.' But Vassar is more than rollicking live act. He's a multi-threat artist who has been one of country music's most acclaimed and successful songwriters for more than a decade. His latest Arista release Greatest Hits Vol. 1 landed on Top 10 of 2006 lists by the New York Times, Pittsburgh Post Gazette and CMT. The disc's No. 1 single "Last Day of My Life" is the fastest rising chart-topper of his career.
Vassar is currently working on a new studio album, due for release this year. Upcoming tour dates include:
