CMT SEARCHES FOR CANADA’S NEXT CHEVY KARAOKE STAR IN TORONTO

(Toronto, Canada) Are you a karaoke star? CMT Canada continues its cross-country audition tour for the next Chevy Karaoke Star Friday, May 23 in Toronto. Judges will be holding auditions in eight cities across Canada, in search of viewers who can sing their hearts out for the $10,000 cash prize.  

To enter to be a contestant, candidates must arrive on time to the audition location to register and sign CMT release forms in order to be eligible for a 30- to 45-second audition. Contestants can choose from a list of songs and fill out their audition form in advance at www.cmt.ca. Two finalists from each city will be chosen to compete in Toronto – one selected by the judges and one selected by viewers via online and text voting.

This season, CMT is giving Canadians an extra chance to shine. Candidates who miss the initial auditions can submit videos of their performance online at www.cmt.ca from Thursday, July 31 to Thursday, September 18 for a chance to become a Karaoke Cyber-Star. Two Karaoke Cyber-Stars will be chosen for a chance to compete in Toronto. 

Viewers will also have the opportunity to jump the line on their audition day by waiting for the cue to text and win during CMT Music hosted by Ashley Kranz. 

Find out who will be crowned the next Chevy Karaoke Star and win the $10,000 CDN cash prize in this ten-episode series hosted by Paul McGuire, launching on CMT Canada Thursday, July 31. 

Auditions will also be held in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Halifax and St. John’s. All participants must have reached the age of majority in the province where they are performing, be a resident in the province where they are performing and provide a valid piece of government-issued identification.
