(December 18, 2007 – Toronto, Canada) CMT kicks off the new year with new episodes and specials highlighting star power: season two of Project Mom and Project Dad will give fans a chance to taste celebrity; CMT dedicates two evenings to mega-stars Toby Keith and Garth Brooks, viewers can follow Canadian Crystal Shawanda’s quest to make it big in the new series Crystal: Living the Dream, and Home Improvement joins the weeknight comedy block.
PROJECT MOM/PROJECT DAD
In the second seasons of these CMT original Canadian productions, six more deserving moms and dads get to experience the thrill of living in the lap of luxury. Hosted by CMT’s Beverley Mahood, new episodes this season have parents living the lavish lifestyles inspired by Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks and Rascal Flatts. Watch as minivans get turned in for limousines as these shows premiere back-to-back Thursday, January 10 beginning with Project Mom at
8 p.m. ET.
GARTH RETURNS – A GARTH BROOKS PROGRAMMING EVENT
On Sunday, January 20 CMT pays tribute to Garth Brooks with an evening packed with programming focused on this country music legend. The network kicks the night off with Garth’s first live concert since his retirement nine years ago, One Artist, One City, One Night: Garth. Exclusive to CMT, this 90-minute Kansas City performance premieres at 8 p.m. ET. The concert is followed at 9:30 p.m. ET by a look back at Garth’s rise to the top with Flashback: Garth Brooks. At 10 p.m. ET CMT airs Ultimate Garth: The Ultimate Hits featuring Garth telling the stories behind the songs and videos from his recently-released three-disc greatest hits collection.
AN EVENING WITH TOBY – A TOBY KEITH PROGRAMMING EVENT
CMT dedicates Sunday, January 27 to Toby Keith with the premiere of One on One with Toby Keith at 9:30 p.m. ET. Viewers will learn about one of country’s favourites as Paul McGuire sits down with Toby to talk about life and music in this half-hour interview. Additional special programming on Sunday, January 27 includes a Toby Keith episode of Dedicated at 8 p.m. ET, Flashback: Toby Keith at 9 p.m. ET, and the feature film Broken Bridges at 10 p.m. ET featuring Keith in a break-out role as a faded country star seeking redemption and reconciliation.
CRYSTAL: LIVING THE DREAM
CMT chronicles the extraordinary story of Canadian Crystal Shawanda in the six-part series Crystal: Living the Dream. Born Ojibwa in the Wikwemikong Reserve on Manitoulin Island, Crystal is on the verge of country music stardom. She has signed with RCA in Nashville and is preparing to release her first major label recording. From dealing with her band mates to choosing a single, Crystal: Living the Dream celebrates the incredible power of a single dream and charts the often rocky journey to achieving it. Canadian produced by Henry Less Productions in association with CMT, this series premieres Tuesday, February 12 at 8 p.m. ET, airing two episodes back-to-back for three weeks.
COMEDY BLOCK
This January the popular sitcom Home Improvement starring comedian Tim Allen joins the weeknight comedy block, beginning Monday, January 7 at 10 p.m. ET. The series joins a line-up of laugh out loud series airing every Monday to Friday from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET, with Reba, Hope & Faith, Home Improvement and Roseanne.
As Home Improvement replaces Married with Children in CMT’s weeknight comedy block, the network will celebrate Al and Peggy Bundy with an evening of back-to-back episodes Sunday, January 13 beginning at 9 p.m. ET.
