CMT SEARCHES FOR CANADA’S KARAOKE STAR
Judges Continue Cross-Country Auditions June 8 in Toronto

(May 28, 2007 – Toronto, Canada) Are you a karaoke star? Throughout the month of June, CMT Canada is looking for viewers who can sing their hearts out. The judges, who include CMT’s Beverley Mahood and Casey Clarke, are holding auditions in six cities across Canada to find CMT’s very first Karaoke Star. Their journey continues Friday, June 8 in Toronto  

To enter to be a contestant, candidates must arrive on time to the audition location to register and sign CMT release forms in order to be eligible for a 30- to 45-second audition. Contestants will have a list of songs to choose from. Ten finalists will be chosen to return the next day for a second audition. Two finalists from each city will be chosen to compete in Toronto – one selected by the judges and one selected by viewers via text vote.

Find out who will be crowned Karaoke Star and win the $10,000 CDN cash prize in this eight-episode series hosted by Paul McGuire launching on CMT Canada Wednesday, September 5.  

Auditions will also be held in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa and Halifax. All participants must have reached the age of majority in the province where they are performing, be a resident in the province where they are performing and provide a valid piece of government-issued identification.
