(May 1, 2007 – Toronto , Canada ) CMT Canada presents the exclusive Canadian broadcast of the 42nd Annual Academy of Country Musicآ® Awards live Tuesday, May 15. Straight from the Central studios, CMT Canada gets viewers warmed up for the awards with a pre-show event complete with a live studio audience beginning at 7 p.m. ET. The celebration continues with the live broadcast of the 42ndAnnual Academy of Country Music Awardsat 8 p.m. ET.
The awards, hosted by country superstar Reba McEntire, will feature performances by Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood and new artists Rodney Atkins and Miranda Lambert. The nominees this year illustrate country music's growth and crossover appeal and include country favourites Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood and Canada’s own Emerson Drive, nominated in the category of Top Vocal Group.
Giving viewers the best of both worlds, CMT Canada is putting on a bash of its own with an awards show pre-party. Hosted by Central's Paul McGuire , this homegrown celebration takes place inside the Central studios, with an audience of contest winners from sister station The New Country 95.3. The studio audience and viewers at home are treated to a special performance by “country soulâ€‌ artist Johnny Reid who will perform Love Sweet Love and Thank You from his latest album. The pre-show event will also include a special appearance by Paul Brandt and a sneak peek at his newest video, Didn’t Even See the Dust. And as a bonus for country fans, that same day CMT Canada will feature Elissa Lansdell’s interview with Gretchen Wilson to coincide with the release of her new album One of the Boys.
