Fans Can Vote Via T-Mobile Text Messaging or the Internet

The “2005 American Music Awards” is asking the public to cast their votes for the second consecutive year for the T-Mobile Text In Award to determine the fans’ favorite from a list of top artists from each of the six major musical genres.  Results of the voting will be revealed during the live telecast of the 33^rd annual awards special, which airs Tuesday, November 22 on the ABC Television Network.

 The nominees reflect the artists whose overall sales have put them at the top of their genre for the past year in the United States (actual time frame covered was 11/20/04 – 9/3/05).  Those vying for the “T-Mobile Text In Award” are:

MARIAH CAREY  (Soul/Rhythm & Blues)

KELLY CLARKSON  (Adult Contemporary)

50 CENT  (Rap/Hip-Hop)

GREEN DAY  (Rock)

TOBY KEITH  (Country)

GWEN STEFANI  (Pop)

T-Mobile USA subscribers can cast their votes via text messaging using their T-Mobile SMS Capable cellular phones.  Other members of the public wishing to cast their votes can do so at www.ama.abc.com and viewers of the “American Music Awards” can also vote during the show via Enhanced TV by logging on to ABC.com and clicking on the Enhanced TV logo.  Voting is now open and will conclude during the show on November 22.  Last year, the inaugural winner of this award was Country Music’s reigning Entertainer of the Year, Kenny Chesney. 

On the TV special, which will be hosted by Cedric “The Entertainer,” awards will also be presented to the past year’s elite in contemporary music in the areas of Pop/Rock, Soul/Rhythm & Blues, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop Alternative Music, Adult Contemporary Music, Latin Music and Contemporary Inspirational Music, as determined by a poll of the American record-buying public.  The television special is a presentation of dick clark productions, inc.
