| If
you're looking for a country singer that rocks like Elvis, moves like Ty
Herndon, has a body like Billy Ray, charms like Garth Brooks and sings
like no one else, look no further........Johnny Reid is your man!
That's Country was invited to come and hear Johnny on Saturday night (June 24th, 2000) at the Heritage Theatre in Brampton, ON. We got there just before the show started and the house was packed with a very enthusiastic crowd of all ages. We were greeted by Johnny's manager, Craig MacAdam, who looked very pleased with the attendance. We took to our seats and Jerry Carroll, owner of Nashville North, introduced Johnny. I can't begin to describe his show. This young gentleman rocked the house with tunes like "Johnny Be Good" and "Runnin' Wild" (from his self-titled album) and gave the house goose bumps with ballads such as his self-written song "Tell Your Mama". Johnny entertained us for a good 3/4 of an hour in his first set and by mid way through, he had stripped down to a black muscle shirt. All I can say to that is if I were about 25 years younger.......... (Yes....he still had his pants on!!!!) You'll just have to take in one of his shows for yourself though, since I was unable to get a good shot during the first half of the show. Johnny has a very good sense of humour, which appeared when he joked with members of the audience between songs. He also shared some stories of his childhood with us, which made us feel as if we knew him personally. Johnny's second set was more relaxed. He brought out a guitar and entertained us from a stool as he brought out his band members one by one and introduced them to us. They played a musical number by Ricky Skaggs, which showed just how much talent was up on the stage. Johnny also had his lead guitar player sing a couple of solos (he's very young and VERY talented) as well as bringing out Bruce Worthington, who won second prize in Nashville North's Talent contest in May, 2000 (review of the contest in the Nashville North section) After the show, Johnny spent a good hour signing autographs and having his photo taken with his fans. Please check out his tour schedule and put it on your list to attend one of Johnny's shows....you won't be sorry!
